About The Instructor…
Guro Gerald Toki was born in Waialua, Oahu on November 15. Then raised in 'Fernandez Village' in EWA. In his teen years he moved to the island of 'Kauai', where he graduated at 'Kapaa High School'. And worked for the 'County Of Kauai' for 22 years. Also a 'musician' who played at varies hotels on Kauai for more than 25 years. Active with the Filipino Martial Arts in his early life through his late Dad, Maestro 'Frank Mamalias', an instructor of Escrima in 'Doce Pares'. Guro Gerald is an active member of the 'Kali Association Of America', based in Fremont, California. He is also a certified instructor for the 'Villabrille-Largusa Kali System'.
1965...
Guro Gerald Toki started training with 'Senju Karate' under the instruction of 'Master Vince Maglinte'. Earning a rank of Blue Belt.
1967...
Started Filipino Martial Arts training with his Dad on Kauai at the old 'Hanamaulu School' building. With other instructors such as Grandmaster Ben Largusa's brother, Guro Dominado.
1982...
Guro Gerald began training with then, 10th Degree Black Belt, Professor Greg Lontayao. Trained till the year 1993, earning the rank of 4th Degree Black Belt.
1994...
Guro Gerald officially began training with the 'Kali Association Of America' on Kauai with the 'Largusa School Of Kali', directly under the guidance of 'Grandmaster Ben T. Largusa'. With just a few selected students. He trained for 6 continuous years, earning the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt.
Today, Guro Gerald Toki resides in Glendale, Arizona and actively teaches the 'Villabrille-Largusa Kali System'. With schools in Glendale and Tempe.
And continues to promote and preserve the traditions, legacies, philosophies and teachings of the Founder Grandmaster Floro V. Villabrille
and Grandmaster Ben T. Largusa.
